Following is a poem written by Jessica Hebert
in honor of her brother, Army SPC Justin W. Hebert

A Brother Unlike Anyother

This can't be true, it just couldn't be?

This is the land of the brave and
The home of the free

I'm just lost in the thought that you've been taken from us
I feel like I have been left behind
Left in the dust

Life just isn't the same
It isn't that perfect picture
In an All-American frame

My head has been flooded
With all memories of you
It's hard to pick the best one's
There are more than just a few

I never thought a tragedy like this would become so true
I know you'll be here to guide us
It will be you that pulls us through

I'll sit here and cry for all time
Inside and out I will forever weep
You are a brother unlike anyother
…Nobody could compete….

I'm sorry for all the times that I beat you up
However, you should have seen it coming Bro,
You should have ducked…

We were very competitive with one another at everything we did
You liked playing video games, trading baseball cards,
you were content with these as a kid

You played your sports
You even joined a band
You were an all-around good guy
On your own 2 feet you could stand

As you grew up you became a very clean-cut, handsome young man
I was in such shock
I envied you so much more
I was your #1 fan!!

You mean more to me than money and materialistic things
You are my brother, my friend
You are my everything…

To all of my friends and co-workers
I boasted about you
You were fighting for our country

You were this families'
This town's
Very own..
RED, WHITE & BLUE

We were scared but supportive of what you had done
We all just wish that the war would have ended
And the freedom bell would have been rung

I wouldn't want my brother to be remembered in any other way…

That is why, I am here to say
Justin,
I love you
More than words and thoughts could ever convey
I'll watch over everyone
We will all be okay….
You'll live in our hearts for the rest of all time
I've got to let you go now…

Yes, brother…….it is the last of this long, deeply thought out. Heart felt rhyme.

I love you and will miss you for all time.

At Arlington on Veterans Day, 1985, President Reagan said the following:

"It is, in a way, an odd thing to honor those who died in defense of our country, in defense of us, in wars far away. The imagination plays a trick. We see these soldiers in our mind as old and wise. We see them as something like the Founding Fathers, grave and gray haired. But most of them were boys when they died, and they gave up two lives -- the one they were living and the one they would have lived. When they died, they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers. They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for our country, for us. And all we can do is remember".
